What's Different About Integrated Units
Integrated columns are designed to be fully covered by custom panels and to sit flush with cabinetry. That affects service:
- Ventilation is tight. Air for the condenser passes through a narrow grille, so dust and blocked airflow cause trouble faster than on freestanding units.
- Door alignment matters. Heavy custom panels load the hinges. Misalignment causes gasket leaks, frost and door alarms. See hinges and closers.
- Columns are often installed in pairs (refrigerator plus freezer, or refrigerator plus wine), and each unit has its own sealed system and controls.
- Freezer columns usually include an ice maker, so water valve and ice maker failures are common. See ice maker repair.
