The in-freezer ice maker assembly includes the mold, the ejector mechanism, a control module and a fill tube, often with a heater to prevent freezing. Failures cause no ice, overfilling or jammed harvests.
What It Does
Water enters the mold, freezes, and the module ejects the cubes into the bin. A sensor or arm stops production when the bin is full.
Symptoms of Failure
- No ice
- Ice maker doesn't cycle
- Overfilling or ice blocks
- Clicking or jammed ejector
Why It Fails
- Module failure
- Frozen fill tube
- Heater failure
- Low water pressure
