The Sub-Zero door ajar alarm sounds when a door or drawer has been open too long, or when the control thinks it's open. If it goes off with the door closed, the cause is usually a door that isn't fully sealing (blocked, sagging or worn gasket) or a failed door switch or sensor.
What It Means
The door switch or sensor tells the control when a door opens. If the door stays open beyond a set time, the alarm sounds to protect food.
Common Causes
- Items blocking the door or drawer
- Worn hinge or door closer
- Torn gasket
- Failed door switch or magnet sensor
What You Can Do
- Check for blocking items.
- Close the door firmly and check the gasket contact.
- Check if the interior light turns off when you press the door switch.
What a Technician Does
We adjust or replace hinges and closers, replace gaskets, and test and replace door switches or sensors.
